Provo punk outfit Doris Day. releases EP ahead of tour.
This week, Doris Day. released a split EP with Nampa, ID post-rockers, Midnight Legs//Marathon Lungs. The aptly named Tour Split consists of three tracks – two brand new Doris Day. songs and a ten minute piece from ML//ML.
Concerning the release of “Dude, Stop Yelling” and “This Isn’t One of those Desperation Things, is It?”, Doris Day. frontman Ted Richards says, “The songs represent where we are headed musically as a band.” The songs feature expanded vocal duties, adding the voice of Rick Thornton and the screams of Kyle Cornwell to the harmonies of Ted Richards and Alessandro Improta. The new tracks delve deeper into the band’s emo roots – leaving behind some of the ska influences heard on their first EP, No Complaints (read our review here).
Doris Day. tracked their side of the split at a cabin in Duchesne, UT. The Midnight Legs//Marathon Lungs side was recorded at Sonic Motion Studio in Caldwell, ID. Both sides were mixed and mastered by Stephen Cope at Studio Studio Dada.
From June 1st to June 11th both bands will play shows in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and California as part of their 2016 Summer Tour. They’ll officially kick off the tour next Wednesday at The Underground in Salt Lake City. They’ll be performing with Wicked Bears, Aspen Grove, and Second Anchor Line. Tickets are $5.
